Bulletin: March 19, 2017 Thanks to the Ministerial Board for hosting the ice cream social last evening and to all who furnished delicious ice cream and snacks. Official Spring council has been set for this Tuesday, March 21st at 7pm. The purpose of the council meetings is to give members and officers of the church an opportunity to expresss their opinions,, ideas and any business of the church. This is an important process of the Church. Please make an effort to attend. It is time to start collecting items for our Operation Christmas Child ShoeBox project. This month of March we will be collecting soap, wash cloths and tooth brushes. (Please no toothpaste as this item is no longer accepted). Thank you for sharing in this ministry. Each Operation Christmas Child gift is an opportunity to change the life of a child. There will be a Ladies Aide meeting this Tuesday at 10am at the church. Also, the Ladies Aide would like to thank everyone for their donations to the Hoyes Food Band. When the Church of the Brethren gathers in Grand Rapids, Michigan for Annual Conference this summer, there is to be further consideration given to the two queries submitted by West Marva to Annual Conference last summer. The two queries are, “How shall districts respond when credentialed ministers and/or congregations conduct or participate in same sex weddings?” and “to consider if it is the will of Annual Conference for On Earth Peace to remain an agency of the Church of the Brethren with reportability and accountability to Annual Conference.” Since both issues were brought to AC from our district, there will be 3 different meeting locations on these issues. Oak Grove will be hosting one of these on March 26th at 3pm with light refreshments to follow. Relay for Life event sponsored by Northern High School students will be held Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Garrett County Fairgrounds. If you would like to purchase a luminaria in honor or memory of someone please see Dottie Sines. They are $5.00 and need to be obtained by April 30th. You can also donate to the American Cancer Society directly. It is estimated that in 2016 nearly 1.6 million Americans had a new diagnosis and 31,000 Marylanders heard the words “You have cancer.”
