Christmas is quickly approaching here in Garrett County. Some 250 county families are not able to provide Christmas gifts and/or food for the holiday. The Oakland Rotary Club along with the generosity of many businesses, schools, churches and individuals try to help these folks by providing Christmas gifts and food certificates. Often times these are the only presents the children will receive. If you can help, please take as many gift tags, located on the Christmas tree in the vestibule, as you feel comfortable with. Purchase the gift, attach tag, but do not wrap gift. Return gifts to the church by December 8th. If you want to give a monetary donation please give it to Shelby or Jim and they will purchase the present for you. If there are any volunteers who can help with preparing the gift bags on Friday, December 10 or delivery of presents and gift certificates on Saturday, December 11th please contact me. Any questions please contact Jim or Shelby Carmack at 301-387-5862.
Thank you to all who helped with this year’s Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. There will be a “Packing Party” today at 3:00 for those who would like to help get the boxes ready to go. Let Dottie or Fayann know if you are planning on coming.
