Bulletin for June 27, 2010

The flowers in the front of the church are in memory of Hope Marie Upton (Feb.20, 2001-June 28, 2008), granddaughter of Duane and Judy Rodeheaver. Hope’s family lives in Oklahoma; please continue to keep them all in prayer.
We have just ended another rewarding week of VBS. Appreciation goes out to all who helped in any way and to Jessica and Teresa for directing. The children learned to be a HERO for God – so let’s join forces with them as we serve our community and be a HERO to someone!
The South Dakota Mission Group will be taking part in the service today. They have taken the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18-20 seriously. “..to be a missionary minded church is giving help to those that have lost all hope. When we help those who have lost hope, by giving them food, clothing and shelter it helps restore their hope and opens the door for us to share the gospel. By doing this we touch the heart of God.”
It is time again to start planning our trip to North Carolina to work at the Operation Christmas Child Distribution Center. If you would be interested in donating a few days of your time this fall to work on this project, please contact Dottie or Fayann. (Tentative date is the week of December 5th) Reservations need to be made as soon as possible.
There will be a Jr. Youth meeting this Wednesday evening @6:30. Due to rescheduling, the last adult Bible Study will be held this Wed. evening at 6:45 with a covered dish picnic.
You’re invited: There will be an 85th Birthday party for Helen Rodeheaver on July 11th from 2-4pm at the Accident Park Pavilion. Everyone is welcome but please RSVP to: 301-746-8356 or 301-746-8603.
Obey The Great Commission
Our Lord has instructed us to go…
Proclaiming His message to all,
Souls are in bondage and perishing,
Let us rise and obey the call.
Can we hear the cries of the captives
Who seek release from chains that bind?
Do we care about the broken hearted?
The poor? Bruised? Spiritually blind?
There is just so little time on earth
To accomplish the Father’s will,
Let us follow our Lord’s instructions:
Tell of His love on Calv’ry’s hill.
Tell how He arose with victory…
And that He is alive today;
Tell how He forgives all who repent
And believe in Him as they pray.
Are we willing to leave our comfort,
And reach out to a needy soul?
Do we respond with warm loving hearts?
Or have we grown selfish and cold?
May God fill us with His compassion,
Stir our hearts to obey and go…
That lost, dying souls would be saved…
As Jesus Christ, they come to know.
Let us Obey The Great Commission.
