Bulletin for August 22, 2010
There will be an Anointing Service for the new school year today. Keep in prayer all the students, teachers and school personnel for a safe school year.
Pastor Phil would like to meet this morning before Sunday School with anyone who is interested in the Guatemala mission trip.
Next Sunday Anne & Ilhamie Konor, who are the missionaries working at the Indian Reservation in South Dakota and running the Windswept Academy School, will be sharing following the message. The VBS will also be presenting them with their mission offering.
The Sunday School picnic has been scheduled for next Sunday, August 29th. The picnic will be held following church service in the church pavilion. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided by the Sunday School (as well as paper products) – so bring a covered dish and stay for the fellowship.
The Rodeheaver/Matthews Families will hold their annual family picnic at the Oak Grove Church Pavilion today at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends – you are invited to bring a covered dish and join them.
Mark your Calendar: Operation Christmas Child will hold their “Countdown Event” on August 28th at 10am at Cherry Glade Mennonite Church. Lejla Allison will be the guest speaker. Lejla was an 11 year old little girl when she received a shoe box in 1993 while living in Bosnia. She now lives in Pennsylvania and will be sharing her story. You will be blessed to hear her share what the Lord did in her life – through the “Power of a Simple Gift.”
Don’t forget – it’s never too early to start doing your shoe boxes. School supplies are now on sale. Why not make a few extra shoe boxes this year by getting started now. Also, if you want to travel to Charlotte, N.C. to work at the OCC Distribution Center, please let Dottie know as soon as possible.
Looking ahead – Official Council is September 7th and General Council is September 21st. With that in mind, please be praying about where God can use you in the church. Don’t wait to be contacted – volunteer to further His Kingdom!
“Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event for Church
2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it for other events at the last minute?”
